There are many different ways that you can help serve this organization. What better avenue is there to enrich your life with new friends and with a greater appreciation for the richness of the historical nature of this valley?

These are the many ways to volunteer:

The Toscano Hotel, built in 1850, began as a general store and later served as a modest hotel for Italian immigrants who came here to work in the quarries and in the fields.

The state of California owns the property while the League provides docents when the property is open for showing from 1-4:30 pm PM Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

volunteer.cottage.jpgThe Cottage and Garden Tour   find out more...

The Sonoma League for Historic Preservation Auxiliary presents a self-guided, easy walking tour of selected homes and gardens on Sonoma's historic East side. This has become the major fundraiser for the League. We will be planning for our next tour, in May of 2008, beginning Fall 2007.

Some sites have historical significance while others are charming remodels.
The tour traditionally occurs on the Sunday before Mother's day in May when Sonoma's springtime gardens are at their peak bloom. The tour runs from 12 Noon until 4:00 p.m., and light refreshments are served in two special gardens.

Volunteers are needed to become docents, help with site selections, work on publicity, and prepare refreshments. In the past over 150 volunteers worked on this event which has become a Sonoma tradition. To volunteer, please contact Jean Hopeman ohana@vom.com.
